Susan and Xin
Susan and Xin are two friends brought together by travel and jewellery.
They love exploring the style and culture of different cities, and on every trip they find themselves stepping into small shops in search of the most distinctive local pieces. Over the years they gathered many that they loved, and an idea slowly formed: how good it would be to design and make, with their own hands, pieces that carry the memory of a city.
Susan comes from Macao, a city that blends Chinese classicism with Portuguese romance: sea breeze, and the buildings and colours that history left behind. She turned those cultural traces into a source of inspiration and taught herself to make jewellery, telling Macao’s story through Chinese beads, the lustre of pearls and fragments of blue-and-white porcelain with Portuguese-inspired patterns, and expressing her own idea of beauty.
Xin is her travel companion and the partner who helped bring those ideas to life. From discussing designs and choosing materials to building and sharing the brand, together they turned a love of jewellery into Susan&Xin.
The brand
Susan&Xin is a handmade jewellery brand woven from travel, culture and friendship.
We believe a piece of jewellery is more than an ornament. It is a city in miniature, an expression of style, the continuation of a journey.
The brand grew out of our love of jewellery on the road. In every city we are drawn to the local jewellery culture; its materials, craft and style are that city’s character made tangible.
As a girl from Macao, Susan brings the cultural memory she grew up with into her designs: the sheen of pearls that recalls the sea, the warmth of Chinese beads, the blue and white of Portuguese tile patterns. These are her conversations with the city, and the soul of the brand’s work.
At Susan&Xin, every piece is designed with care and made by hand, with its own cultural detail and its own story. We hope that when you wear one, you hold not just a piece of jewellery, but a little of the beauty and gentleness of somewhere far away.
