Azulejo de Macau takes its cue from the Portuguese tiles of Macau: fragments of blue-and-white ceramic are held in wrapped silver-toned wire and paired with white lustrous beads in earrings and a bracelet, while blue-and-white patterned beads in gold-toned frames and caps echo the same blue and white.
Inspiration and meaning
Azulejo is the Portuguese word for the painted, glazed tile, and Macao, Susan’s hometown, is a city where Chinese and Portuguese heritage meet. The series takes its cue from those tiles: fragments of blue-and-white ceramic held in wrapped silver-toned wire, paired with white lustrous beads, in earrings and a bracelet, while blue-and-white patterned beads in gold-toned frames echo the same two colours. It is the collection closest to where the brand’s story begins.
